http://sharingisthepoint.org/vb/showthread.php?p=357617#post357617 NightOS (ReturnOfNights Windows 7 SP1) This is based on a LastOS 7 Preset with the latest Versions as of the 22 May 2011. It's a DVD9 size OS with a Script you can use to copy it to a bootable USB (8GB+), Just mount it in a Virtual drive to save burning a DVD9. Contents are a surprise, Graphics are too They are suitable, not extensive. I've reduced the included themes to one and wallpapers to one, so the Size comes from the inclusion of the latest driverpacks and Post SP1 updates. * This is NOT a LastOS release, nor is it supported by LastOS (it's still packed full with LastOS goodness) * So ask any questions here, I might have some answers. I've not been keeping up with modded OS's so mine might not be up to par, or maybe it is... Enjoy all the same. Also your welcomed to post this (or an improved post) on any forum you wish, dissect, re-release, mod, burn, mame or kill this release. I mean really Who Cares!, it's in the public's domain now what else can you expect??? How to install NightOS: http://www.lastos.org/index.php?attachments/lastos7_install_v2-zip.159/ Let me know if the above link fails and I'll put it on a free host. Unfortunately, my DVD Writer will only burn to DVD5, and my BIOS won't permit booting from a USB Stick - in this, I suspect I'm far from alone. Do you have any ideas as to how I might get around this limitation, or are there inclded apps I could delete or move to another DVD to reduce the size to fit a DVD5. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. TIA Jimmy Re: NightOS (ReturnOfNights Windows 7 SP1) JimmyM, an alternative would be to build a bootable drive on your internal HDD's and boot from that, than you'll have it as an installer, you will need to fix up the boot drive after you remove or format the drive you booted from (as thats where it'll write the boot files to), but if you boot off ANY win 7 DVD it'll be able to repair it ;) Option 2, just copy the content to the root of any hdd or partition and boot from a DVD5 version of NightOS (with install.wim removed from the source folder, it'll fit on a DVD5 and be bootable), remove the DVD when it says starting windows and it'll detect the install files on the HDD partition (You can even make a bootable USB disk with the files and use the boot DVD to boot ANY PC with a DVD drive) It's actually possiable to make a USB disk and make a CD version of the NightOS by removing install.wim, ssAppsInstalls and ppAppsInstalls (should fit on a CD then), the other MAJOR step is to remove ssWPIcd.ini from the CD (and the above DVD version) so it detects the USB drive as the install media. Sorry if this is a bit rushed or not understandable, 1/2 way through a movie and will get back to fixing up the step after that ;) The trick tho, boot from CD/DVD Remove the CD/DVD at the Starting windows screen (if not removed ssWPIcd.ini) Then it'll detect any drive in your PC that has \ssWPIcd.ini and a \sources\install.wim to install from instead ;) Re: NightOS (ReturnOfNights Windows 7 SP1) Ok, now 1.Mount the ISO in a virtual drive 2.(Option 1) Use the MakeUSB.cmd on the virtual drive to make a bootable USB drive with the content copied across via the script. 2.(Option 2) Copy the files from the virtual drive to the root of any drive in your PC (except the one you wish to install too), can be USB or Internal. 3.Unmount the Virtual drive 4.Open the ISO in UltraISO 5.Remove the following from the ISO content: \Sources\Install.wim \ppAppsInstalls \ssAppsInstalls \ssWPIcd.ini 6.Save As the ISO as a new name (NightOS_Boot.iso) 7.Burn the new ISO to a CD/DVD 8.Boot from that CD/DVD with the USB or internal HDD attached (Containing the files you copied off earlier). 9.Install as tho all the files were on the one Drive (the LivePE doesn't know any better ) 10.Post what you think of the OS I'll add a link in the first post with a how to install manual (pdf). It also has a few Screenshots in it of the Base OS. Option 2 - Get a friend to burn it for you PS. This will be a slow released torrent, My up speed is set to 95kb/s, but i'll leave it going till it's a strong seeded source. Sure beats my old 24kb/s limit I had.
